Flip Roaming gives you extra protection against accidental injuries for higher risk activities that some travel insurers don’t cover. It can complement your travel insurance in Covered Destinations outside of Australia & NZ.
For a weekly flat price - no quote required.
What’s the difference?
Flip Roaming pays a benefit if you suffer an accidental injury overseas, including when you're active or adventurous.
Travel insurance covers medical costs resulting from illness or injury, travel related costs such as cancellations or lost luggage and the cost of repatriation or transport back to Australia.
Flip Roaming doesn't provide cover for accidental injuries in New Zealand. But don't worry, we cover accidental injuries in New Zealand with our Flip Active and Flip Kids cover.
Let us know what other countries you’d like to see us cover, by emailing us at help@getflip.com.au
As well as reimbursing you for your overseas medical expenses, Flip Roaming also pays you cash straight to your bank account if you suffer an eligible Accidental Injury while you are overseas at one of our Covered Destinations.
Flip Roaming does not provide you with cover for an Accidental Injury suffered in Australia or New Zealand.
Unlike traditional travel insurance, you don’t need to buy Flip Roaming before leaving Australia.
You can turn on cover while you’re already overseas — perfect for protecting just the active parts of your trip.
Flip Roaming cover provides two types of benefit in relation to an Accidental Injury:
You can claim under either or both benefits up to a maximum of A$70,000 in total (which is the maximum amount payable under this Insurance).
Your full benefit payout up to $70,000
If you travel to Japan and your luggage is lost, you'll need travel insurance, not Flip Roaming.
If you catch the flu in France or your flight is cancelled, you’ll need travel insurance, not Flip Roaming.
If you break your leg mountain biking in Canada, Flip Roaming reimburses your medical costs (up to $20k) and pays Extra Recovery Cash.
If you’re competing in a tournament or event overseas — like a triathlon or snow competition — Flip Roaming can cover you for accidental injuries while participating.
While travel insurance ends the moment you get back, we know your recovery doesn't so we'll support you back home too with Extra Recovery Cash, that you can claim for eligible accidental injuries on top of getting your overseas medical costs to help your recovery back home.
Most traditional travel insurance can exclude or charge higher premiums for competitive or high-risk activities, but we don't.
If you get injured and need medical assistance in one of our Covered Destinations, our Overseas Medical Cash benefit means you can claim back up to A$20,000 in cash.
Have an accidental injury in a Covered Destination, while your insurance is active and visit a Health Professional within 14 days.
You’ll need to pay for your overseas medical services directly. But keep the receipts and medical reports to claim back the costs from Flip.
We pay you up to $50,000 in cash directly to your bank account on approved claims, to spend however you want.

No. Flip Roaming is accidental injury insurance, which is different from travel insurance. It covers you for accidental injuries only in covered destinations, offering reimbursement of overseas medical care costs (up to A$20,000) and cash payouts for injuries of a specified severity (up to A$50,000).
Flip Roaming provides accidental injury cover for (almost) any activity, including extreme adventure sports (but excluding motorcycling). Travel insurance policies commonly limit the activities you are covered for.
Travel insurance policies commonly require you to pay an excess in relation to claims or deduct that amount from the claim payment. Flip Roaming doesn't have an excess, so you will be reimbursed for all the costs of your covered overseas medical care for accidental injuries (up to $20,000).
Flip Roaming also offers Extra Recovery Cash payments for accidental injuries of a specified severity (up to $50,000), which you can spend on anything you like. Travel insurance policies are commonly limited to reimbursing your loss and costs incurred only.
If you’re injured in an accident abroad, Flip Roaming can integrate with travel insurance. You can use the cash payouts to cover unexpected expenses, helping to bridge the gaps in your travel insurance.
Check your travel insurance policy details carefully to see exactly what it covers and read our PDS to see if Flip Roaming is right for you.

You can buy cover for one week at a time.
You can choose to start immediately and be covered from that time until the end of the week, or you can schedule it to start up to 12 months in advance and cover will start at 12:00am on that date.
Your Insurance will end 7 days after it starts, at 11:59pm on the 7th day. For example, if it starts on a Tuesday, it will end at 11:59pm on the following Monday.
When you buy cover, we’ll ask you to choose the closest region to where you're travelling and use that timezone.
To cancel a week that you’ve scheduled for a future date, simply head to Manage Cover on your Flip Dashboard and cancel that week for a full refund.
If the week already started, you won’t be able to cancel it, so you’ll stay covered for accidents until 11.59pm at the end of that week.
